Stuart Deed – Chair

During his career Stuart has undertaken a broad range of management roles in what is now Exxon Mobil, SSE plc, and Strathclyde University. Stuart has worked in major business restructuring, helped to establish a venture capital fund, and founded his own management consultancy. More recently as Commercial Director for the DHI, one of Scotland eight innovation centres hosted by the university, Stuart has focussed on supporting innovation in the health and social care sectors.

During these difficult times, the Board are working together to ensure the best possible outcomes in the longer term for our organisation, it staff and most importantly the community that we support.


Trish Young MSc MCIPD

Trish’s professional background was as a Human Resources Manager/Director and her broad generalist experience was gained in a variety of customer focused public and private sector organisations including Oil and Gas, Tourism, Education, Economic Development and Health Sectors.

Now retired but with a continuing interest in developing people and organisations Trish has been involved with CheckIn Works/Giraffe since June 2017 and took on the role as Chair in December 2017. Her hobbies include travelling, hill walking (she is an avid Munroist), the theatre and concerts and baking.


Pam Wilson

Pam has worked in education and training all her working life. Starting off in the world of banking, she worked for Bank of Scotland and TSB. After a period of creative self-employment running a stained glass business, she moved to further and higher education. A number of roles followed involving supporting businesses and individuals develop skills and qualifications to make the most of their abilities. Pam retired as Vice Principal of Perth College UHI in 2018, and is delighted to contribute to the Board of Giraffe having seen the important work being done, and the enthusiasm and passion of the staff, volunteers and trainees.


Janice Laurie

Janice is a Fellow of the CIPD and also holds a Certificate in Coaching, Diploma in NLP and is an Accredited Strengthscope Facilitator , IDI Profile Practitioner and Spectrum Emotional and Performance Coach. She works closely with the Scottish Institute of Business Leaders supporting this organisation with coaching and facilitating of group and individual members. Janice has been proactively engaged with business owners, leaders and managers during her whole working life. She has worked directly with business improvement, organisational development and individual and team coaching for over 25 years. Her experience spans a wide range of industry sectors and she can relate well to all sectors and sizes of organisations. Janice has had her own business for over 18 years. She describes herself as someone who can apply practical thinking based on her previous experience. She is skilled in creating opportunities for people, teams and organisations to transform the way they work, their self-beliefs and their overall effectiveness.


Angie Ferguson

Angie is the Chief Executive of Perth Autism Support, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation based in Perth & Kinross. With a number of years’ experience working within private, public and the third sectors within a range of training and development, employee relations, housing and social care experience, Angie is keen to support other local organisations who have the same ethos and values, where she can bring her skills to support other individuals to have the best chance in life.  With a particular interest in training and development and funding income generation, Angie has worked at both a strategic and operational level and is looking forward to bringing her experience to support the outstanding work of Check-In and Giraffe.
