Trish Young MSc MCIPD


Trish’s professional background was as a Human Resources Manager/Director and her broad generalist experience was gained in a variety of customer focused public and private sector organisations including Oil and Gas, Tourism, Education, Economic Development and Health Sectors.

Now retired but with a continuing interest in developing people and organisations Trish has been involved with CheckIn Works/Giraffe since June 2017 and took on the role as Chair in December 2017. Her hobbies include travelling, hill walking (she is an avid Munroist), the theatre and concerts and baking.

Janice Laurie

Janice is a Fellow of the CIPD and also holds a Certificate in Coaching, Diploma in NLP and is an Accredited Strengthscope Facilitator , IDI Profile Practitioner and Spectrum Emotional and Performance Coach. She works closely with the Scottish Institute of Business Leaders supporting this organisation with coaching and facilitating of group and individual members. Janice has been proactively engaged with business owners, leaders and managers during her whole working life. She has worked directly with business improvement, organisational development and individual and team coaching for over 25 years. Her experience spans a wide range of industry sectors and she can relate well to all sectors and sizes of organisations. Janice has had her own business for over 18 years. She describes herself as someone who can apply practical thinking based on her previous experience. She is skilled in creating opportunities for people, teams and organisations to transform the way they work, their self-beliefs and their overall effectiveness.

Angie Ferguson

Angie is the Chief Executive of Perth Autism Support, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation based in Perth & Kinross. With a number of years’ experience working within private, public and the third sectors within a range of training and development, employee relations, housing and social care experience, Angie is keen to support other local organisations who have the same ethos and values, where she can bring her skills to support other individuals to have the best chance in life.  With a particular interest in training and development and funding income generation, Angie has worked at both a strategic and operational level and is looking forward to bringing her experience to support the outstanding work of Check-In and Giraffe.

Jean Andrew MA CA

Jean is a Chartered Accountant who has worked in the UK and abroad for International accountancy practices, both in audit, taxation and general accounting services roles.

Prior to retiring recently, Jean gained significant personal tax and charity accounts experience through working both in local accounting practices and legal firms, and in her own company which she has run with her husband since 2007.

Jean has also been involved in treasurers’ roles for various local charities, and carries out independent examinations of a variety of small local charities and local churches.

Jean is keen to use her knowledge to help the board in their understanding and interpretation of financial information presented to the board, and the financial implications of key decisions.

Michael Hodgson MCIOF(Dip)

Michael is a major gifts fundraiser working with PDSA who has 15+ years experience working in national and local charities in a range of fundraising and leadership roles across several sectors. This has included the Arts, Specialist care, Higher Education and children’s charities. A long standing member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, Michael has previously been a board member of Grampian Credit Union, Junior Chamber International and acted as a mentor for Project Scotland and the Institute of Fundraising. While still fairly new to Perthshire, he’s keen to help Giraffe to diversify its voluntary income. His spare time is spent mostly with his dog!

Lindsay Philp

I have 35 years Factory Management experience mainly in the moulding and packaging manufacturing. This was within large multinationals and medium sized locally owned companies.

My responsibilities encompassed all aspects of management, operations, finance, health and safety, administration, quality systems, human resources etc. During this time, I studied for an MBA.

Over the last 10 years I have worked with prisoners and ‘harder to reach’ groups to assist them in the process of coming up with a business idea and producing a business plan for their idea. This varies from mentoring of individuals who have already a partially or fully developed business idea to a full 30-hour business course.

Mark Bush

After a career as an IT consultant including air traffic control systems & 7 years on a international trading floor, Mark Bush moved to his wife’s family farm where he started Summer Harvest Ltd in 2008.  Summer Harvest was the first ‘cold pressed rapeseed oil’ business solely based in Scotland and it helped forge a new staple food item in the Scottish kitchen, both at home and in Michelin star restaurants across Scotland.  In addition Mark has taken roles as Chairman of Perth Farmers’ Market, an ambassador for Circular Tayside and is currently chair for the Great Perthshire the new Regional Food Group for Perth & Kinross.
